Fairy Garden!

I have previously made multiple fairy gardens in the classroom with the students, and they were always such a hit! So this past summer I made a fairy garden with my niece for her playroom!

It was such a cool hands on project that we worked on for a couple of days! To start out, I had my niece collect a bunch stuff from outside..... rocks, leaves, moss, sticks, etc. Those were the main things used to make basically the entire fairy garden! Plus a whole lot of hot glue! For the house part, we glued bark and moss along the outside of a clear plastic bird house that wasn't being used. And my niece was determined add a rock wall, but I did the hot glue for that part. My niece is four and actually did a lot of the hot glue for the moss and rocks that are just on the ground. For the little pond, I just cut out a cardboard oval shape and we glued the rocks on.

We made a little swing by gluing the sticks together for the frame and them gluing those onto a cardboard base that we also glued moss and rocks on to. For the seat part of the swing, it's just a little piece of cardboard with a fake leaf on top!

There are also quite a few fake plants in there too, they were ones that were going to be gotten rid of, so we found a way to use them!

My niece also wanted to include some kind of slide, so I found some random flexible material that was laying around the house, added a little moss on to it, and there ya go!

The slide leads to another little area with a shady spot and a little chair made from cardboard and a couple fake rose pieces!

There are a couple little fairy garden decorations and toys that I did buy for this, but those were just little ones from the dollar tree! So besides the random materials we had laying around the house and the hot glue, we pretty much didn't have to buy anything for this project! I've always enjoyed being able to show kids, either in the classroom or elsewhere, how creative we can be with nature and every day items we already have around!
