Wire Wrapping: Bookmarks and Jewelry

Since my first post on wire wrapping (you can check that out here) I have been practicing with it a whole lot more, and I'm starting to run out of space for all of it! I started out doing some simple wire wraps with resin jewelry pieces I had made, and I've now been starting to work on different weaving patterns with the wire, designs that are a little more intricate, and have also made quite a few cool bookmarks!

Making these has given be a great chance to practice more with making different colors with resin, pouring and mixing techniques, as well as practicing the actual wire wrapping itself.

I've started to learn which size wires work best for certain designs and which brands seem to work better, but there's still so many different kinds of wires I have yet to try!

In the picture on the right, the darker pinkish one and the grayish blue one are the first couple I made after learning how to successfully do some wire weaving! Those two are a couple of my favorites!

And here's a few more I've gotten on to necklace chains! My niece wanted me to make her a necklace, so the little pink one on the left is a mushroom one I made for her!

The moon one is a bit too big as a necklace, so it's just something I have hanging on one of my lampshades as a decorative piece! The moon was the first one I tried making a specific shape with, instead of just forming the wire around the piece of jewelry being used.

I started to need a break from making jewelry though, so I decide to try making some bookmarks!

I used copper wire and an amethyst stone for this first one!

This next one also uses an amethyst stone, but the wire for this one is thicker. To make it more flat and less likely to bend, I hammered the wire after getting it to the shape I wanted. Hammering it also gives it a cool texture and look!

The little sword was a fun one to make! It was probably one of the most challenging ones though.

The one to the right has a small resin piece dangling from it!

I need to make some kind of flower or plant bookmark to go with my Fancy Plants Coloring Book though 🤔

And of course I had to make some adorable animal bookmarks as well!

So far I've made the wolf one, a couple of cat ones, and a butterfly one!

I'm excited to keep getting better at this! It has definitely had its frustrating moments but I can tell I'm making progress!

PS.... all the coloring books and journals in the pictures are ones that I've made! You can find out more about them in my Journals section!
